Top 10 Spinal Injuries
By far, the most common cause of a tumor involving the spine is due to metastasis from a cancer at another site. If diagnosed early it may be possible to treat the involved part of the spine with radiation therapy or chemotherapy along with treatment of the primary cancer. If tumor destruction of a vertebra has caused instability of the spine then surgical stabilization and fusion is warranted. This is especially true if nerve root or spinal cord symptoms are also present.
